The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) is deeply saddened by the loss of lives in Southeastern Türkiye and Northern Syria due to the massive earthquakes that hit the region. We continue to pray for all the children, individuals and families who lost their lives, for families affected by this humanitarian crisis.
Many members of our school communities have ties to the affected regions and have been profoundly affected by this recent natural disaster. The TCDSB’s Chaplaincy team and Special Services Department are available to offer support to anyone during this time. In addition, School Mental Health Ontario also offers resources for students.
As rescue operations continue throughout the region, millions have been displaced and are in need of basic necessities and financial aid. The Archdiocese of Toronto is partnering with the larger Catholic communities and charities to support relief efforts underway in the region. We encourage members of our community to follow Pope Francis’ lead and pray for everyone impacted by the earthquake, including those who are working to provide relief and save lives. Every prayer and gesture counts.
