“The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) continues to remain committed to responsibly managing public funds. We do this with the understanding that every dollar possible should be spent on student achievement. We share the province’s commitment to ensuring students are setup for future success and to that end we continue to deliver a very high standard of education to our most valued resources, our students.

The TCDSB has identified over $80 million in savings. In addition to this, staff have already identified an additional $10 million in savings for the 2025–26 school year and remain focused on finding further efficiencies.

The TCDSB continues to face financial challenges due to unfunded sick leave costs, statutory benefits, and legacy local commitments tied up in collective agreements, as well as the provincial moratorium on school closures. We remain focused on finding further efficiencies without impacting student learning and well-being.

The Board has been actively working with Deloitte LLP as part of the Ministry of Education’s Special Assistance Team (SAT) since August 2024 to assist with validating our deficit and identifying opportunities for savings. While we have not yet received this report, we look forward to reviewing the findings as we work collaboratively with the Ministry on next steps in this process.”
