The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) and Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School are proud to celebrate an extraordinary achievement: Grade 12 student and current TCDSB Student Trustee, JoyGold Goodluck, has been named a 2025 Loran Scholar!

A standout leader at her school and in the wider community, JoyGold co-chairs the Catholic Student Leadership Impact Team (CSLIT), where she collaborates with students from across the Board to inspire and enact change. Her leadership journey is grounded in service, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others.

After securing a Community Crisis grant, JoyGold co-launched a new initiative aimed at empowering young girls by building their confidence, leadership capacity, and self-advocacy skills. She also serves as an ambassador for a local NGO focused on youth mentorship, helping young people overcome barriers and reach their potential. In 2024, she was recognized as valedictorian for the University of Toronto’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) Design Program.

JoyGold is one of only 36 youth selected as Loran Scholars from a competitive pool of over 6,000 applicants across Canada. The Loran Scholars Foundation looks beyond academic achievement, seeking students who demonstrate character, courage, a deep sense of service, and a drive to lead with integrity.

As a Loran Scholar, JoyGold will benefit from a comprehensive four-year leadership-enrichment program, financial support, tuition waivers at a partner university, and access to a national network of mentors and peers who share her commitment to building a better future.
