Dear TCDSB Community,

This message contains important updates about changes to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) fare options and details about a new pilot program offering free transit for student field trips. We want to ensure our communities are aware of these developments and can plan accordingly.

End of Tokens, Tickets and Day Passes

The TTC will stop accepting tokens, tickets, and day passes as valid fare payments after December 31, 2024. After this date, these forms of payment will no longer be accepted, and no refunds or credits will be provided for unused tokens, tickets, or passes.

Going forward, passengers will need to pay using a PRESTO card, debit/credit card, or cash. We encourage Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) schools, families, and students to use any remaining tokens, tickets, or day passes before the end of the year. Visit the TTC website for more information.

Free Transit Program for Student Field Trips

The TTC has partnered with the TCDSB to offer free transit to Grades 7-12 students during field trips in the 2024-2025 school year. This program is aimed to help students build confidence, develop transit etiquette, and promote fare compliance when riding the TTC. Visit the TTC website for more information.

Note: The TTC provides free transit at all times for children 0-12 years of age.

We hope this update helps the TCDSB community prepare for these changes and take advantage of the new opportunities for students.

Sincerely,

TCDSB Communications
