Dear Families,

The safety and well-being of the school community are deeply important to all of us at the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).

As many of you are aware, Local 113 of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) which represents roughly 12,000 front-line staff, including streetcar, bus and subway drivers, has given notice of a possible strike effective on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 12:01 AM if no collective agreement deal is reached with the management at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

While Friday is a scheduled Professional Activity (PA) Day for all elementary schools, it is a regular day at the secondary level, and we recognize the impact this will have on students at the secondary level and staff who use the TTC to commute to school and work.

While the ATU has given assurances that a 48-hour notice period would be given before any disruption occurs, we are requesting families to prepare and plan for this possible service disruption by planning for additional travel time (by foot, bike or car), and considering carpooling options if available.

We thank you for your understanding, patience, and support as we navigate this together,

Toronto Catholic District School Board
