Growing in knowledge reflects God’s image. Intellectual pursuits, curiosity and learning are gifts of the Holy Spirit which enrich the understanding one has of oneself, others, and the world.
Knowledge of our Catholic faith is a deep understanding of, and familiarity with, the beliefs, teachings, practices, and traditions of the Catholic Church.
This knowledge includes various aspects of our faith, such as theology, scripture, doctrine, history, morality, and sacraments.
I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding and have the knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
- Colossians 2:2-3
Knowledge of our faith significantly shapes the beliefs, values, and practices of our communities. This knowledge is acquired through religious education, catechesis, participation in the sacraments, prayer life and engagement with the community and the Church.
We grow in Knowledge by:
learning about the teachings of Jesus Christ, the traditions of the Church, and the importance of living a life of compassion, service, and integrity;
seeking truth and wisdom by striving to live lives guided by the virtues of love, justice, and mercy through dialogue and opportunities for questions;
nurturing the mind, body, and spirit, and using this knowledge to serve others and to build a more just and loving society.
