The Cardinal Carter community commemorated Truth and Reconciliation Week by observing the fourth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day invites Canadians to reflect on the history and experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.
The CCAA Student Equity Team welcomed Guest Speaker Niigaan Sinclair, who shared valuable insights into the residential school system, deepening our community's understanding and commitment to healing and reconciliation.
Students also participated in Orange Shirt Day, wearing orange to honor the survivors and victims of residential schools. Grade 9 students in the Expressions of Indigenous Cultures course displayed powerful visual art reflecting on Indigenous history and the ongoing journey towards justice.
Special thanks to the TCDSB Indigenous Education, Equity, and Community Relations Department for their support.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this meaningful day!
