The Psychology Department of the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) supports all children, youth, and families within the TCDSB to access the learning, behavior, and mental health supports needed to thrive in school and at home.
The goal of the department is to assist children and youth to succeed in school and beyond, to contribute to a healthy and supportive environment in our schools, and to strengthen connections between home and school.
Our department consists of psychologists, psychological associates and psychoeducational consultants. They are highly trained professionals, possessing Masters and/or Doctoral degrees, mostly in school and educational psychology. Many members of the department also have training in clinical child and counseling psychology.
Psychologists and psychological associates are registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and can independently diagnose childhood disorders that impact learning.
For members who are not yet registered, or in the process of registering with the College of Psychologists, supervision is provided by registered psychology service providers within the department.
Psychological services staff work under the professional and administrative supervision of the Chief Psychologist.
Our department provides direct service in all elementary and secondary schools within the TCDSB, serving a culturally diverse student population.
Psychology staff work as members of inter-disciplinary teams that include educators, social workers, speech and language pathologists, and assessment and programming teachers.
