Speech and Language
Intensive Support Program
The Speech and Language Department staff provide a range of education, consultation and support services and programs to students with communication and literacy needs, as well as to their teachers, families and/or caregivers.
One of the services offered is the Intensive Support Program for Students with Language Impairment (LI ISP), a two-year placement for students with moderate to severe delays in oral and written language skills and at least average non-verbal cognitive reasoning.
Classes are located in selected elementary schools across the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).
Typically, ten students in the primary and junior/intermediate grades attend the class for at least fifty percent of the school day and are integrated throughout the day.
Classroom staff include an LI teacher, and may also include an Educational Assistant (EA).
The school speech-language pathologist collaborates with the LI teacher and provides programming, consultation and resources.
