Energy Management
The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) is setting an energy conservation target of 11% reduction in total energy intensity over 5 years (2019-2020 to 2023-2024), measured against the actual 2017-2018 baseline.
Four areas of focus have been identified below as key strategies to meet this five-year target:
Organizational commitment.
Occupant engagement and awareness strategies.
Energy efficiency through Operations and Maintenance programs.
Energy efficiency through the retrofit of existing buildings and new construction projects.

Energy Conservation Guidelines
The following guidelines form the basis of the EcoSchool Energy Reduction EcoReview:
Standard Summer School Air Conditioner Temperature Setting
Occupied = minimum temperature 25°C
The Head Caretakers are not to set the temperature below this point.
Minimum Occupancy/Unoccupied = minimum temperature 30°C
The Head Caretakers are to ensure that temperatures are increased when the building is unoccupied.
Domestic Hot Water Temperature Settings
Board domestic hot water boilers will be set at 55°C (131°F), as it is the optimal temperature setting.
