Students from Loretto College’s Arts & Culture Specialist High Skills Major (S.H.S.M.) program recently participated in an immersive field trip to the University of Toronto, where they gained hands-on experience in curatorial work.
Led by Processing Archivist Francesca Rousselle, the students completed a Curatorial Certification workshop, granting them rare access to archival collections that captured life in early 20th-century Toronto. They learned essential skills in handling delicate historical materials, curating artifacts, and designing engaging exhibitions.
The experience continued with a guided tour of St. Michael’s College, culminating in an intimate discussion with Dr. David Sylvester, President of St. Michael’s College, and Dr. Michael Salvatori, Director of Continuing Education.
This enriching opportunity blended history, art, and post-secondary exploration, providing students with valuable insights into the world of curation and academia.
