The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students of Monsignor Percy Johnson Catholic Secondary School went to BMO Field and participated in "A Day in the Life of the Argos". This exciting event was hosted by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) and offered students an unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience with the Toronto Argonauts! Students explored the rich history of this iconic Canadian Football League (CFL) team, engaged with players and coaches, and gained insights into the world of professional sports. Through interactive activities, they learned about teamwork, dedication and the importance of community. This immersive day inspired young athletes and fans alike, leaving them with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the sport.
In addition, students in Monsignor Percy Johnson’s Health & Wellness SHSM Program had the amazing opportunity of visiting the Learning Institute Simulation Centre at SickKids Hopsital in October. They explored:
The Immersive Reality Room where the walls transform into interactive buttons and projectors display 360 images to transport learners into a different reality.
The Invention Lab where students learned about the innovative ways 3D printing is used in medical simulations. Students mixed and decorated their own silicone molds to look like wounds that could be used in simulation.
The Simulation Suite where students learned how vital signs are practiced on programmable mannikins.
The students were able to meet and greet medical professionals who shared the educational path they took to reach their career goals and participate in Cardiac Crash, a video-interactive game that gives students hands-on CPR practice.
