At the Ontario Music Education Association's ROOTS 2024 Conference in London, ON this weekend, Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) Grad Mickey Marasigan (Class of 2024, Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School) was one of four recipients of the OMEA/CMIEC High School Scholarship. Mickey was awarded this at the morning keynote on November 9, 2024 (Saturday).
The OMEA/CMIEC High School Scholarship is scholarship awarded to any grade 12 music student from Ontario applying for a post-secondary education institution and receives $750 for their contributions to their Music program both inside and out of school based on recommendations from their music teacher as well as an application process.
During his time at McLuhan, Mickey participated in all bands (Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Jazz) and was a Music Mentor in his last two years. Outside of school, Mickey was active as an assistant RCM piano teacher, Alter Server and various other extra-curricular activities. He currently persuing his post-secondary studies at Toronto Metropolitan University.
