Congratulations to Caitlin R., a student at Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School, who has been selected to receive a $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship to study at Queen’s University!
Caitlin will be entering the Computer Science Program (with a focus on AI) this Fall. She was selected by the Guidance Department for her outstanding achievements in field and ice hockey, the book club, the robotics and coding club. This is the second Nominee to win a Schulich Leader Scholarship at Loretto Abbey.
A total of 100 scholarships are being awarded - 50 engineering scholarships valued at $120,000 each and 50 science, technology or math scholarships valued at $100,000 each.

How will this scholarship change things for you?
It is my dream to leverage technology to find solutions to national and global issues. Becoming a Schulich Leader is not only supporting my education - this honour will provide me with a platform to pursue my goal of contributing to technological advancements while sustaining an encouraging, constructive environment for others to succeed. This award also presents an opportunity to connect with likeminded students from across the country.
How did it feel to receive the notice of offer for the scholarship?
I received the scholarship offer during Law class one morning. I had been anxiously waiting for an update since I submitted my application. When the news came in, I was thrilled. This is such an amazing opportunity, and I am overwhelmed with happiness and excitement for the future. I’m so grateful to the Schulich Foundation for this opportunity and to all of the donors that made this possible. I can’t wait for September!
How will this scholarship help you reach your goals?
It’s such an honour to receive this award, but the opportunity to be a Schulich Leader means more to me than a prestigious title alone - it represents a commitment to make a positive impact on the world through STEM. With the support of the Schulich Leadership Award, I’m determined to contribute to accessible advancements in technology, encouraging others to do the same.
