On February 25, 2025 (Tuesday), our Black Excellence and Allies club (BEA) at Francis Libermann Catholic High School organized an exciting buyout basketball game between Toronto Police Services (TPS) and our Varsity Boys Team. This event was one of many initiatives hosted by BEA for Black History Month, bringing students together to celebrate school spirit while raising funds for future workshops and activities.
Students had the opportunity to purchase tickets for the game, which took place during period 4. The Varsity Boys brought their A-game, facing off against the 42 Division officers team that also included teachers and school administrators. It was a thrilling match, filled with fast-paced action and plenty of school pride. In the end, the TPS team secured a narrow victory, but the real win was the incredible sense of community and connection fostered throughout the event.
A huge thank you to Officer Urkoski and 42 Division for working with BEA to bring this fun event to Libermann. We can’t wait for next year’s rematch!
