Specialist High Skills Major Programs
A Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is a specialized program which allows students to experience a range of customized, career-focused learning opportunities while working towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
The Ministry of Education has developed SHSM programs for many of the industry and business sectors in the province and has authorized the Toronto Catholic District School Board to offer SHSM programs in various sectors.
Students now have the opportunity to customize their high school experience, explore new ways of learning and 'reach ahead' to their post-secondary destination of choice (apprenticeship, college, university or the workplace).
SHSM at Francis Libermann
Francis Libermann provides the unique opportunity for students at all levels to design their academic choices around the field of the Environment, Health and Wellness, or Information and Communications Technology (ICT). At the completion of secondary school students can earn a Specialist High Skills Major with a designation in the Environment.
This designation will be indicated on the students Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and will provide them with post-secondary opportunities in fields related to the environment.
