Congratulations to both Rachel Allen and Lana Storto who are recipients of the 2023 Ontario Council for Technology Education (OCTE) Excellence in Teaching Award at both the Elementary and Secondary levels. Rachel was presented with this award in recognition of her work as an Elementary Teacher and Leader of Experiential Learning who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to the presentation and integration of technological education into the curriculum.
Additionally, she is also dedicated to the promotion of Experiential Learning and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) Education throughout the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) and across Ontario. Rachel played a key role in developing, facilitating, and implementing creative, engaging and community-connected technological education learning opportunities for over 35,000 students across the TCDSB this year.
Lana was presented with this award in recognition of her work as a Secondary Teacher who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to the delivery and promotion of Technological Education through the curriculum and was responsible for organizing/participating in events that promote technological education to students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
She has played an integral role in furthering the growth of Technological Education at Notre Dame by proving unique learning opportunities for students in areas like Fashion, Film, Design and Robotics. By promoting careers in technology through partnerships and hands-on learning, Lana has also shared her technological knowledge and innovation with teachers across the TCDSB through workshops and seminars.
