On November 23, 2024 (Saturday), Brebeuf College School's Brebotics team competed in the FIRST Robotics FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Central Scarborough Qualifying Tournament and emerged as champions! After securing the fourth seed in the round-robin matches, the team went undefeated in the double-elimination playoff rounds to claim the tournament victory.

In addition to their on-field success, Brebotics was honored with the Inspire Award, the highest recognition in FTC, for their exceptional achievements and contributions over the past year. These include organizing STEAM Days, hosting First Lego League robotic camps for children, running senior and grandchild workshops, and conducting numerous outreach initiatives within and beyond our community—even internationally!

Their outstanding performance has earned Brebotics a spot in the FTC Provincial Championship in St. Catharines this February. Brebotics was also recognized for their mentorship efforts of the Grade 9 Brebeuf team, Canoe (who earned the THINK Award) and BeWitched (an all-girls team from St. Joseph's Morrow Park Catholic Secondayr School who made their debut as the first all-girls team in the Toronto Catholic District School Board to compete in the FTC).

A special shout-out to Ms. Annetta and Ms. Shannon for her unwavering support and leadership. This victory is a testament to the team’s commitment and determination, especially so early in the competition season.

Go Brebotics, Canoe and BeWitched!
