On January 8, 2025, fifty music students at Romero had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the art of African drumming. The workshops were led by Alpha Rhythm Roots, with Alpha, the skilled instructor, providing each student with a Djembe and showcasing the African dundun.
Students were captivated as they explored the versatility of the drums and learned a traditional African drum pattern. The lesson gradually built in complexity, challenging their rhythm and coordination. By the end of the session, the students came together to perform an entire piece of traditional African drumming music, showcasing their newfound skills.
This enriching experience not only deepened students' appreciation for African musical traditions but also highlighted the power of rhythm in fostering collaboration and creativity.
