Mikael A., a Grade 12 student at St. Michael’s Choir School, has made history as the first-ever recipient of the Filipino-Canadian National Scholarship Program (FCNSP) Legacy Scholarship. Awarded on February 21, 2025 at the Pinoys on Parliament event in Ottawa, this milestone achievement is a source of pride for both the FCNSP and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) community.

The FCNSP Legacy Scholarship is a prestigious award recognizing Filipino-Canadian students who have made meaningful contributions to Canada across diverse fields, including the arts, sciences, business, technology, and public service. Mikael was one of seven outstanding recipients selected from across the country, each representing the next generation of Filipino-Canadian leaders.

The launch of the FCNSP marks a significant step in supporting Filipino youth by addressing educational disparities and providing financial assistance to exceptional students. Mikael’s recognition not only highlights his personal achievements but also paves the way for future scholars who will continue to make an impact in their communities and beyond.
