In honour of African Canadian Heritage Month, St. Michael’s Choir School had the pleasure of spending the afternoon learning and engaging with guest speakers and presenters from Stolen from Africa, during the educational assembly titled "Connect, Inspire, Celebrate!".
The students took part in a fun Black Canadian facts trivia, which helped them learn more about historical and contemporary Black Canadians who have shaped the nation through contributions in science, politics, arts, and activism. Guest speakers, Neil "Logik" Donaldson and Tye shared their experiences as Black Canadians and how it has shaped their identity and culture and experiences. Another exciting part of the assembly was the hip hop performance by 4Sante, which showcased the influence of African heritage in dance. The students also took part in showing off some of their own dance moves, and it surely became a party! It was such a fun, educational, and engaging afternoon not only for the students but for the staff as well.
