Congratulations to the St. Martin De Porres Catholic Elementary School Boys and Girls basketball teams for winning the City Championships. After stellar wins at the Divisional and Regional Basketball titles, the teams clinched the City Championship on March 22 (Friday), making the day a memorable one for all the students and staff at the school.
What made this year so unique, is unlike other City Championship winning schools, both the girls and boys teams were aiming to take the title. It has been an unprecedented year for St. Martin de Porres, with both girls and boys pushing for championship after championship.
En route to the city championships, the boys took 7 championship pennants, and the girls took 6. Their success in other sports has been enviable, with Championship pennants in Flag football and a Provincial runners-up in girls Volleyball. However, 2023-2024 will go down in the history of the school as the year when they swept the board in basketball and gave the entire school community and all the East end schools something to celebrate.
