From March 9 to 18, the students and staff of St. Joseph’s College School and St. Joseph's Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School set off on a March Break trip to explore Central Europe. After a long fight, we were met by our Tour Director Julia at the Berlin airport, where our whirlwind adventure began with a walking tour of the city.
Over the next day and a half, we saw Berlin’s iconic sites including the Palace of Tears, the Berlin Wall, Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the Global Berlin exhibition, the Berlin Cathedral, Topography of Terror Museum and so much more. After leaving Berlin, we spent some time strolling the streets of Dresden exploring its architecture. Then it was off to Prague to enjoy the busy city and some of its sites, including: the Prague Castle complex, the Lennon Wall, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock, as well as an underground tour of and climb up the Old Town Tower.
Next, we were off to Krakow, visiting Wawel Hill, Glowny Square, the Wawel Cathedral, St. Mary’s Church and so much more. While in Poland, we were given the opportunity to visit Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial and Museum, where we learned, remembered and reflected on the events of the Holocaust. As we headed through the Tatras mountains on the way to Budapest, we enjoyed a few hours and some delicious treats in Banska Bystrika, Slovakia. On the final leg of our adventure we arrived in Budapest. Here we saw Heroes Square, Castle Hill, Gellert Hill, Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church just to name a few. During our free time in each city, we enjoyed exploring new sites, and many culinary treats!!
