Enthusiastic student leaders from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Academy journeyed to Camp Muskoka for the annual SMILE (Student Mentorship in Leadership Enrichment) Camp.

Over three fun-filled days, the focus was on the five key qualities of great leaders: Challenge, Model, Inspire, Empower, and Celebrate! with enrichment activities designed to cultivate these qualities through lively lessons.

Students explored how to challenge the status quo, model exemplary behaviour, inspire others with vision, empower peers to take initiative, and celebrate collective achievements. Students applied these principles while grasping the intricacies of team collaboration, mastering the art of effective communication, and delving into thoughtful conversations about ethical decision-making, from the foundation of Catholic values.

The students reflected on the valuable leadership lessons they unpacked around these five core themes, adding a wealth of new perspectives and practical tools to their Catholic Student Leader toolbox, ready to challenge, model, inspire, empower, and celebrate even brighter within the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Academy school community.

With appreciation to our Catholic School Leadership Impact Team (CSLIT), Mike Consul, Nick McCowan and our participating student leaders for their support and participation in this valuable student leadership opportunity.
