Huge congratulations to the Cross Country team from Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School for their outstanding results at the Toronto District College Athletic Association (TDCAA) championships held at Sunnybrook Park last Friday. They brought home two banners: TDCAA Junior Girls Champions (for the second year in a row) and Overall Girls Champions (for the third year in a row)!

Our entire team of athletes had a strong showing at the championships. An impressive total of 14 runners qualified and will be representing Father John Redmond at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championships in Ottawa on November 4, 2024!

Below are some of the team achievement highlights from the TDCAA:

Novice Girls: Our Novice Girls put in an exceptional effort, finishing 2nd in a close team result. This dedicated team has earned their spot at OFSAA!

Individual highlights include:

Novice Boys: Our Novice Boys bagged a strong individual finish, with one runner placing 16th to qualify as an individual for OFSAA.

  • Christian DiC. (16th place - qualifying for OFSAA as an individual)

Junior Girls: Our Junior Girls team delivered an extraordinary performance, claiming 1st place in the team category and being crowned TDCAA Champions for the second consecutive year, as well as qualifying for OFSAA.

Individual highlights include:

  • Marisa K. (3rd place)

  • Juliette A. (6th place)

  • Tessa M. (11th place)

  • Simona H. (12th place)

  • Madeline O. (19th place)

  • Lauren C.

Junior Boys: Our Junior Boys team placed 3rd overall in a hard-fought competition, showing impressive teamwork and dedication.

Senior Girls: Our Senior Girls team finished 4th overall, with one runner achieving a notable 12th place finish.

Individual highlights include:

  • Lindsay S. (12th place)

Senior Boys: A remarkable individual performance led one of our Senior Boys to place 13th and secure his spot as an individual qualifier for OFSAA.

  • Patrick O. (13th place- qualifying for OFSAA as an individual)

Congratulations, team, and best of luck at OFSAA! Way to make our namesake, Father John Redmond, proud. We kept the faith and finished the race.
