Chaminade students out in the school grounds to greet the Holodomor Mobile Classroom bus

On November 1, 2024 (Friday), Chaminade College School students had an opportunity to attend Breaking the Sound Barrier: Raising Voices Out of Silence, an immersive lesson. Students participated in a digital, interactive classroom on wheels where they examined media's coverage of the Holodomor in 1933.

The Chaminade students out in the school grounds to greet the Holodomor Mobile Classroom bus (HMC) is a state-of-the-art, interactive multimedia environment, designed to engage and educate students and the public across Canada about the Ukrainian genocide. The Breaking the Sound Barrier: Raising Voices Out of Silence module offers an immersive learning experience through the perspective of courageous individuals who were dedicated to writing truthfully about the Holodomor, countering disinformation and the cover-up perpetrated by Stalin’s regime. In the second half of the lesson, students are empowered as active and informed citizens to build their own “Wall of Truth,” an interactive digital piece of art that they create in groups and are encouraged to share with the public.
