On May 23 and 24, 2024, the track and field team from Chaminade College School competed against all high schools in the city of Toronto (Catholic, public and private) at the Metro Championships. Despite having to ride emotional rollercoaster of last week Thursday and Friday, overall, the Chaminade Gryphons are the 3rd best school in the city for track and field!
To qualify for Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA), athletes need to finish in the top 4 in their event. We have 9 athletes who will be moving on to compete at the provincial championships in London Ontario from June 6-8th. Those athletes are:
Christian F. – Novice Pole Vault champion and record holder
Isreal A. – 3rd best Junior 100m hurdler
NJ Diaz M. – with a 4th place finish in the Junior 1500m race
Malike O. – Junior Discus 3rd place finisher
Kahari H. – 2nd in 110m hurdlers, 400m hurdles champion
Aaron S. – 3rd in 800m, 2nd in 1500m
William T. – 110m hurdles champion
4 x 400 relay team of William T., Kahari H., Aaron S., Christopher De M., along with NJ Diaz M. and Ethan E..
Experiencing disappointments and learning to grow from them are a part of life. We wish ALL of our athletes were able to move on to compete at OFSAA, but the entire coaching staff and school community are extremely proud of each and every one of you. Well done.
