St. Theresa Shrine Catholic School started an exciting educational project called "Indigenous Peoples - Teach Us Your Way". This project aims to help students learn about Indigenous cultures, care for the environment, and connect these lessons with Catholic values.

The project kicked off with a talk by Indigenous speaker Diane Montreuil, arranged through the Indigenous Education Department of the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB). Diane discusses how Indigenous people relate to land and water, focusing on spirituality and sustainability. After the talk, students in grades 3 to 7 wrote in journals to think about these ideas.

Later in the year, the students went on a day-long trip to Crawford Lake Conservation Area. They explored a recreated village, played traditional games, made crafts, and hiked, all to learn more about Indigenous traditions and how to take care of the Earth.

This project helped the students learn about truth and reconciliation and how to take care of the environment.

Through "Indigenous Peoples - Teach Us Your Way", St. Theresa Shrine Catholic School wants our students to grow into thoughtful believers, caring family members, responsible citizens, good communicators, and helpful teammates while learning from Indigenous cultures and making our community stronger.
