We believe:

  • In the critical role that our Catholic schools play in promoting Gospel values, social justice, environmental responsibility, human solidarity and the common good.

  • That high standards and expectations foster greater achievement.

  • That people thrive in a safe, healthy and compassionate environment grounded in respect for the diversity of every person.

  • That teaching is responsive to individual needs.

  • That teaching and learning should be rooted in research and evidence.

  • That each of us shares responsibility for creating collaborative communities of learning.

  • That equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusivity are integral to the Catholic community.

  • That the 21st century competencies of collaboration, real world problem solving and innovation, knowledge construction, skilled communication, self-regulation and the use of information communication technology for learning are essential.

School History and Tradition

Sts. Cosmas and Damian Catholic School was opened in September 1982. The original school building was built in 1950 and was formerly named Danesbury Public School.

Sts. Cosmas and Damian Catholic School is named after twin brothers who were born in Arabia. They were doctors and lived in Egaea, Cilicia where they ministered to the sick and needy. They were renowned for their skill as healers through their work as early pharmacists. They worked hard and long hours and would not accept monetary rewards for their services. Their generosity to others serves as an admirable role model for us to follow.

Sts. Cosmas and Damian are excellent role models for children because of their care for people.
