Throughout the academic year starting in September 2022, the St. Gabriel Lalemant (SGL) Robotics Club, under the leadership of Ms. Li, has made impressive strides in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) education and competitive robotics.

Competing as Team #50421, the Synergized Stingers excelled at the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, earning 3rd place and the Innovation Project Award at the Mary Ward Qualifier. They continued their success at the Skills Ontario competitions, securing 1st place in both Junior and Intermediate divisions. At the LEGO Robotics Provincial Championship, their Intermediate team secured 2nd place.

The club initiated a Junior Robotics Training Program, where older students mentored younger peers, fostering skills development and leadership.

Collaborations were pivotal in their growth. Partnering with St. Mother Theresa's FTC Robotics Team provided insights into high school robotics programs, while visits to Ontario Tech University exposed members to potential careers in robotics and computer science.

Community outreach initiatives included developing an interactive coding game for Kindergarten students using Scratch and hosting experts from Ontario Tech University to share cutting-edge research.

As the school year concludes, the SGL Robotics Club looks forward to building on its achievements and continuing to inspire future generations in STEAM education.
