Josyf Cardinal Slipyj Catholic School
Parent Council
The Josyf Cardinal Slipyj (JCS) Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC) is made up of a group of parent/guardians of children who are currently enrolled at Josyf Cardinal Slipyj Catholic School.
The role that these parent/guardians play in the composition of our school is to work in close partnership, in an advisory capacity, with the administration and teaching staff in an effort to promote a healthy and safe learning environment, as well as enhance the existing programs and activities in the school.
What Does the JCS CSPC Do?
In an effort to enhance existing programs and activities within our school environment, CSPC conducts a number of fundraising projects, which produce the funds to provide all of our students with these enhancements. Some of these funds have been used to:
Provide the library with new reading material (in an effort to continue the promotion of the balanced literacy initiative as outlined by both the Board and Ministry.)
Provide our music department with new instruments and music as well as repairing some of the existing instruments.
Provide all of the students with the opportunity to take part in the “Scientist in the Classroom” programs up to two times within the school year.
Provide extra in-class materials such as math manipulatives and books.

Get Involved
We are very fortunate to have a school like Josyf Cardinal Slipyj, and we encourage as well as invite all of our parent/guardians to participate and attend our monthly CSPC meetings.
Following the monthly CSPC meetings, the minutes will be posted on our site. Please contact us through the school if you have any contributions to make – be they volunteering, spiritual, monetary or other.
CSPC Notification of Elections
The CSPC is an integral component of our school community. If you are not interested in taking a position as a Board member, you are more than welcome to join the monthly meetings as a parent participant. Dates and times of monthly CSPC meetings will be forwarded to the parent community by the new CSPC chair.
The Nominating Committee encourages interested parents/guardians to contribute their time and experience to a variety of school-related initiatives. It has been a very successful and enriching year; we would like to extend a sincere thanks to the entire school community for its continued support. Please join us in September to learn more about CSPC and how you too can become involved!
