The track and field team from James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School came back from the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA). That is two provincial championships won this year, with the Overall Track and Field title being the biggest and most difficult to win in all of high school sports.
With this championship win, JCM became the #1 team in the province, defeating 919 other schools.
JCM came away from the provincials with a total of 5 medals, after representing Toronto and the Toronto Catholic District School Board on sports' biggest stage at the 2024 OFSAA Track and Field Championships in London, Ontario.

Thanks go out to Principal Bisceglia: without his vision and support, it would be impossible to run our program.
Thank you to coaches Vescio, Panzini and Gabay for all the hours and years coaching, their families for their unofficial support, Moe, DiMauro, Fred, Josie, Vanda, Tullio, Damiani, De Masi, Rita, all JCM Teachers and Staff for all their support. It truly takes a village!
Some perspective on what it took to get here:
Over 100 students were on the JCM team, approximately 10% of the school’s population.
This season, our track team started in November and has had 64 days of practices and meets.
A 1 credit course is approximately 110 hours. Our team dedicated approximately 400 hours on the track (the majority being after school), with the goal of getting better everyday.
An athlete study hall was implemented.
The time, sweat and tears are all a testament to the commitment level of our students and coaches. This accomplishment alone is worth a congratulations. We celebrate the commitment of the collective efforts of all the team members!
