James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School has been synonymous with excellence in sports such as track and field, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. However, this year, the school made a remarkable debut in a different arena – the Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association (TDCAA) Swim Championships.

It has been years, perhaps even decades, since JCM had a team competing in the TDCAA Swim Championships. Swimming was never really on their radar, overshadowed by the successes of their other sports teams. But this year, a dedicated group of students emerged, ready to make waves in the pool.

The students, initially skeptical, became inspired by their coaches' dedication and determination. When the championships arrived, JCM's swim team was prepared to prove themselves. And prove themselves they did. While they may not have won medals, many students placed second and third in their Heats.

What was most impressive was the students' unwavering determination and resilience. They knew their hard work had paid off, since the students already felt like winners beating their own pratice times.

A huge thank you goes out to Miss Ilies and Miss Marques for coaching the students. While they may have started small, their potential knows no bounds.

All the other teams that participated, serve as inspiration for JCM's swim team. There is much for JCM to learn from their competitors accomplishments, but JCM is looking forward to grow and improve along side them.
