The school with no football, produces its first football scholarship athlete...
We are proud of Uzoma (Williams) Nwabeke, an alumnus of James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School, who has been added to the 2024 roster of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team! Williams had never played football but always possessed great athletic skill and commitment to excellence. That dedication was obvious to Coach Nick Vescio. A former player himself, Coach Vescio provided this young man the opportunity to play football by reaching out to the Toronto Junior Argos and University of Toronto.
As Coach Vescio says: “From day one, I went to bat for him. I told everyone in the football community, that he will be a star at the next level.”
Williams is the epitome of student athlete, dedicating all his time in the past year to focussing on both athletics and academics. We wish him the best of luck going at U of T.
