Students from Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School had a unique opportunity to meet Prime Minister Mark Carney during his visit to the Carpenters Local 27 training center. The visit was part of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), a TCDSB initiative that allows students to explore skilled trades through Cooperative Education.
OYAP provides students with hands-on experience, enabling them to register as apprentices and work toward certification as journey persons while completing their high school diplomas. Carney’s visit highlighted the importance of skilled trades in Canada’s workforce and encouraged students to pursue careers in apprenticeship programs.
