Rise In STEM is a grassroots initiative dedicated to fostering STEM learning and leadership among students through skill-building programs, mentorship, tutoring, and research. By equipping young people with the necessary tools for success, Rise In STEM’s hope is that they are prepared for higher education and future opportunities.

Led by Father Henry Carr alumni, Irene Duah-Kessie, Feyisayo Enuiyin, and Bryan Addo, Rise In STEM is piloting STEM Athletics, a new initiative designed to support student-athletes in their career development. The program offers after school athletic workshops, Lunch and Learn sessions on navigating academic and financial resources for post-secondary, as well as career panels and field trips that explore diverse STEM careers within the sports industry. The goal of this initiative is to expand students' knowledge of STEM in sports, help them explore their professional interests, and connect them with support networks for their education.

Rise In STEM has been selected for the Toronto Maple Leafs x LG Canada Community Heroes Program 3.0, receiving a $20,000 donation to support its programming and a game day experience. On February 20, 2025 (Thursday), the donation was officially presented at Father Henry Carr CSS during the introductory Lunch and Learn session. This recognition from Toronto Maple Leafs and LG Canada highlights the impact of Rise In STEM’s work and by supporting STEM Athletics, they are helping student-athletes gain access to valuable career exploration opportunities. The insights shared by students during the first Lunch and Learn will shape upcoming programming, ensuring that their aspirations and needs are at the forefront of the initiative.

As STEM Athletics continues to grow, it will be exciting to see how student-athletes will engage and explore the many opportunities and pathways in sports.
