JoyGold G. and Moriah F., members of the Student Council at Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School, were awarded the Community Crisis grant to plan and executive an initiative that is aimed to positively impact youth in the Rexdale Community.

The Community Crisis grant is provided to fund initiatives that are provided to communities that confront several challengers. JoyGold and Moriah created the initiative PROJECT G.I.A. (Girls in Alliance) with the overarching goal to assist girls in the Rexdale Community to gain confidence in their abilities and build their leadership skills as they learn to advocate for themselves and others.

PROJECT G.I.A. works to enable the young ladies in our community to become the best version of themselves. Through guest speakers, engaging and productive activities, and precise scheduling that targets different skills, JoyGold and Moriah hope to inspire these young women in their personal journeys.
