On October 25, 2024, Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School proudly hosted the inaugural Fr. Ted McLean Memorial Football Cup. The special Friday Night Lights event featured a thrilling matchup between Father Henry Carr and Bishop Allen Academy, held at Centennial Stadium.

Fr. Ted McLean, the namesake of the event, played a pivotal role in establishing the football program at Father Henry Carr during his tenure as principal in the 1980s. Known for his passion for sports, Fr. McLean was an exceptional hockey player who once received an offer from the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings but chose the path of priesthood instead. His legacy is cherished for his dedication to fostering students’ love for both athletics and academics.

The event saw an impressive turnout, with more than 500 attendees, including parents, students, staff, and alumni, uniting the Rexdale community. In a dramatic conclusion, Bishop Allen emerged victorious, clinching the win in the final moments of the game.
