Asian Canadian Heritage Month at Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School was a tremendous success, filled with engaging activities and vibrant celebrations that highlighted the richness of Asian cultures.
It was wonderful for each morning to begin with the school resonating with Asian music, setting a joyful tone for the day. Our celebrations began with a lively Bollywood Dance Workshop, where students learned energetic dance moves that brought the joy of Bollywood to life. The CulinAsia Food Festival followed, offering various delicious Asian cuisines and showcasing the diverse culinary traditions of the continent.
During the third week of May, our creative students enjoyed the Manga/Anime Workshop hosted by Winged Canvas, diving into the world of Japanese art and storytelling. Another major highlight that week was "The Across Asia Show," featuring dance performances, a colourful fashion show, and beautiful singing, celebrating the artistic talents within our community.
To conclude the month, the "Asian Pride" t-shirt giveaway had many staff and students proudly wearing their shirts with enthusiasm.
These celebrations would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of many. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, especially the FHC Student Advisory Council and our Equity Committee, for their outstanding leadership and organization.
Thank you all for making Asian Canadian Heritage Month at Father Henry Carr an unforgettable celebration of culture and diversity!
