For over a decade, as part of the school’s civics courses, Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School has partnered with the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) to connect students to social issues, local charities, and philanthropy.
The objective of this initiative is to provide students with the opportunity to live their Catholic values by standing up for those in need and being good contributing citizens within their local communities.
This year, the winning groups did a wonderful job advocating for their chosen charity. The judges, comprising of Grade 12 students, decided that the $5,000 grant be shared between the Lansing United Church Food Bank and the Waterstone Foundation. The school community thanks the students for their great YPI finals and for contributing to social justice causes which benefit our society.
