Anthony B. , a Grade 12 student from Dante Alighieri Academy Catholic Secondary School has been selected by the Algoma University Thunderbirds at Sault Ste. Marie Campus for their 2025-2026 Men's Soccer Team. Anthony is a highly skilled goalkeeper who has over 13 years of experience and a remarkable resume of accomplishments that will make him an incredible asset for the Thunderbirds next season.

Over the years, Anthony has played for renowned teams such as FC Emery, Vaughan SC, and Metapan Isidro in El Salvador. His career highlights include competing at an international level with the El Salvador U20 team and claiming the Golden Glove award in the OSL U21 division.

Anthony has been enrolled in the Large Group Activities course from Grade 9 to Grade 12 at Dante Alighieri. He has had the opportunity to showcase his skills and compete in the Toronto District Colleges Athletic Association (TDCAA) indoor and outdoor soccer seasons in both the Junior and Senior level as the team captain. His achievements include a championship with the TDCAA Junior Boys’ Outdoor Soccer team and runner-up with the Senior Boys’ Outdoor team. In addition to his soccer achievements, Anthony is a well-rounded individual who enjoys basketball and music. He has excelled academically, winning consecutive awards for the highest mark in his Health and Physical Education classes.

When Anthony was asked about his playing style, he shared this. "I believe I can bring a sense of solidity and help command the back line. As a sweeper keeper, I love coming out and am confident with my feet, making me an extra player in the buildup." His dynamic abilities and leadership on the field will be invaluable to the Algoma Thunderbirds.

“The coaching staff at Dante have provided me with the foundation to further develop my technical skills and abilities”, Anthony emphasizes. “I have the opportunity to play soccer every day and it also helps me to compete at a high level. I really believe that it’s important for players to play in an all-inclusive environment where everyone is welcome and given the chance to improve and play the game that they love. That’s what Dante soccer is all about.”
