We are pleased to announce that the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) will continue to offer the option of virtual learning at St. Anne Catholic Academy, School of Virtual Learning for the 2024-2025 school year. 

At TCDSB, we are committed to providing students with a nurturing and dynamic educational environment aligned with our Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations

Students who wish to attend St. Anne will be fully immersed in a virtual school community where they may further develop their digital literacy skills.

Details

Programs Offered: 

  • For the courses offered at St. Anne the Ontario Curriculum is followed through a regular class placement opportunity for students in grades K-12.
  • Students attending St. Anne will participate in virtual learning experiences except for Provincial, International or Board Level Assessments where they may be required to attend in person (i.e., EQAO, PISA, OLSAT, etc).
  • All extracurricular activities will only be offered online, no activities will be offered in person.

Programs not Offered:

  • Certain specialized programming such as French Immersion, Extended French, Full-Time Special Education Class and Full-Time Special Education Class with Partial integration (Intensive Support Program-ISP) class placements are not offered at St. Anne. 
  • We do not offer courses that require hands-on participation in a specially equipped classroom (i.e., transportation or construction technology, etc).

Enrollment for Current St. Anne Virtual Academy Students: 

  • Students currently attending St. Anne in Kindergarten to Grade 11 will remain registered for the 2024-2025 school year. No further action will be required for students who wish to remain at St. Anne for 2024-2025.
  • For those graduating, please be sure to connect with your Guidance Counsellor.
  • For those wishing to transfer schools please see below.

TCDSB Transferring out of or into St. Anne Virtual Academy Students:

  • Current St. Anne students requesting to transfer to in-person learning for the 2024-2025 academic year should contact their local school to inquire about the transfer process. Students can also reach out to the St. Anne Principal or Vice Principal for support.
  • Current TCDSB students within in-person schools who wish to transfer to St. Anne must initiate the transfer through their local school.

Applications to St. Anne Catholic Academy, School of Virtual Learning for Non-TCDSB Students:

  • Students living in Toronto wishing to attend St. Anne must apply to a TCDSB school by registering first in their local community school and then requesting a transfer to St. Anne. 
  • New students living outside of Toronto are asked to contact St. Anne directly to apply.
  • We will make every effort to accommodate students applying to St. Anne.

Expectations

Technical Requirements:

  • All students registered at St. Anne will require a device to participate. The recommended device for Kindergarten students is a tablet (iPad, Samsung Tablet, etc.). The recommended device for all other grades is a laptop/Chromebook. For any student who does not have a device, a request may be made to borrow a device from St. Anne.

Class Participation:

  • Participation in both synchronous and asynchronous learning sessions is required. Definitions of synchronous and asynchronous learning can be found on the Ministry of Education website
  • Students are required to keep their cameras on during synchronous class sessions to foster a sense of community and engagement. Parents and guardians can address any concerns with the Principal.
