* ECO NEWS - Thank you to the student, parent
and teacher volunteers who helped in building our wonderful butterfly
garden in the west yard. The efforts of all those who pitched in
on Saturday, May 15th are greatly appreciated. Special thanks to
Jason Fabbri of JLF Associates (416) 880-5176 for donating his time
and expertise in the design and construction of our garden. We can
hardly wait until September to watch the southward migration of
the monarch butterflies.

* We are reducing the amount of paper we use. If you would like
to join in our initiative and receive your newsletter, school memos
or CSAC newsletters and/or correspondence electronically, please
print the form
and return it to the school. Paper copies will only be available
to those families who request them.
* CHANGE OF SCHOOL DAY 2010-2011- Starting September,
the school day will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 3:30 pm.
* I LOVE H.C. SHIRTS! - The sale of the “I
Love H.C.” t-shirts was a phenomenal success and they look
great too! Our school donated $250 to the Daniel Sheehan
Brain Tumour Research Fund and $150 to Meagan’s Walk. Special
thanks to Ms. Behan for donating $100 to Meagan’s Walk on
behalf of TD Canada Trust (Pape Branch).
* Support for Haiti - The staff and students of
Holy Cross responded with generosity to the victims of earthquake.
We raised over $ 1,400. Thanks to the Student Council and the M.E.
class for organizing the fundraising initiatives. The funds will
be donated to the Spiritan Fathers who have a long history of working
with Haitian people. Thank you for your support!
* PC John Tierney will be visiting HOly Cross
classes throughout the month of February. Officer John will focus
on a variety of topics involving safety at school and in the home.

* STUDENT AWARDS Congratulations to the students
who were honored and acknowledged for their successes. Here are

* EQAO/CAT 4 Testing - From May 31st
to June 11th, our grade 2, 3 and 7 students
will be writing the CAT 4 Tests, and our Grade 3 and 6 students
will be writing th EQAO Tests.
* ANNUAL FAMILY BBQ, Tuesday, June 15 @ 5:30
pm. Join us for Food-Fun-Games-Raffles and much more!

* GRADE 8 GRADUATION takes place on Tuesday,
June 22. Our graduating students will being
the celebrations with a special luncheon at the Mandarin
Restaurant (Birchmount/Eglinton) at 11:30 am.
GRADUATION MASS and CEREMONY
will take place at 7:00 pm at Holy Cross
Catholic Church.
* PIZZA DAY will be on June 18th
and June 29th. .Orders are due on June
14th.
* SEPTEMBER 2010 STUDENT PLACEMENTS - Staff
will begin the process of determining student placements. When
generating class lists, some of the criteria includes academic
ability (specifially in the areas of Mathematics and English),
individual work habits and study skills, maturity and social factors.
We look to create classes that have a balance of gender
and ability, as well as other needs. Should there be specific
information you may wish to share please provide this information
in writing to the office before JUNE 16.
* Report Cards wil be going home on Monday,
June 28. Please retun page 3 of the report on Tuesday,
June 29th.
* If you are LEAVING the Holy Cross community
and not returning for September 2010 school year, please let us
know.
* Update Family Information - If there has been
a change of address, phone number (home, business or cell), please
inform the school. This information is vital and helps ensure
the safety of our students.
* Registration is now taking
place for Junior Kindergarten! Parents are asked to call the school
and book an appointment with Mrs. Menotti. For those unable to
do morning registrations, you have an option to register on the
evening of Wednesday, January 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

* EPI-PENS Board policy requires that students
who require epi-pens must have two epi-pens on them when going
on a trip. If your child does not have two epi-pens, he/she will
not be able to go on the trip.
* MEDICATION - Students are not alloved to have
any type of medication with them. The only exception is made for
students who must carry an epi-pen. All medication must be stored
in the office (including puffers). School personnel are not permitted
to dispense or administer any type of medication without the written,
signed authorization of the parent and the prescribing physican.
The forms to dispense medication must be updated on a yearly basis.
Contact the office if your require the proper forms.
* Should you have changes to contact numbers or
address information for your child, or if your child will be absent
or will late from school, please contact Mrs. Luciana Menotti
(416) 393-5242. This is paramount for the safety of our students.

BUSINESS DEPOT's Recycle for Education Program
* Special Programs: Students who
are struggling with academics are able to take advantage of special
programs in the school.
* Please do not use the staff parking lot for dropping-off
or picking up your child. It should be done in the school yard.
* Please ensure that your child(ren) are also appropriately
dressed following the Appropriate
Dress Code.
* All school visitors are to use the front school
entrance off Memorial Park and report into the office.
